Winter

(This week I’ve included the original song “Rescue Me” with this blog. Enjoy!)[audio mp3="http://chrisatkins.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Rescue-Me1.mp3"][/audio]This winter has been particularly harsh. Bitter cold temperatures, heavy snowfalls, biting winds, icy rains, and nor’easters have made the season seem relentless. Even here in central Florida prolonged cold snaps have robbed us of some ideal, warm days that many have grown to expect. Then, when the drudgery and heaviness of winter press heavy against our soul a hint of spring softly breaks through and we're reminded that there is hope of warmer, greener days. Spring is comingIn many ways, the seasons are a parable of our life on this planet. Prolonged seasons of physical, spiritual, financial, or relational challenges weigh heavy on our souls. We voice fervent prayers to God and then wait on Him as answers seem slow in coming. The spiritual winter season of our life seems like an onslaught that will never end.But then…But then the gentle warm wind of God’s Holy Spirit blows into our hearts, and we are reminded that He will make all things new again—in our life. Spring is coming. The season we are in right now will not last forever. God is still in control, He is faithful, and is acting on our behalf, even when we aren’t aware of it.Jesus said life would be hard at times, but reminded us that He’s conquered every challenge of life—including death— and has got our life and circumstances under His loving and faithful control:

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”John 16:33

In the middle of the winter of your life, hang in there with God, remembering that He will never—hear this, NEVER— leave you alone. Jesus said, “I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20). Trust Him on this! God will take the blizzards and bitter days of your life and turn them all for your good:

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”Romans 8:28

So keep casting every care and anxious thought on God in prayer. Wait on him, and be ready for the first signs of spring to blow into your soul and circumstances.Winter won’t last forever—Spring is coming!God bless you.Chris Atkins
